Do you know what their role is?

Each classroom, at each service has (or should) an “Experience Leader”.  This person’s role is to; you guessed it, lead the experience.  This person begins by arriving ½ hour before the start of service and leads “huddletime”, trains any new volunteers through the “Check-list” training, and does any prep of the classroom that needs to be done.  The Experience Leader leads or initiates all activities of room (except the teaching portion in the 2’s).  They also “coach” all volunteers, especially junior and student, in what they should be doing during their serving time.  If you have any questions or concerns during your serving, you should address them to your Experience Leader; if he/she is not present or does not know the answer you can feel free to consult your Experience Manager, me, Heather Venuti.

 Junior Volunteers

It is important to know who your junior volunteers are and to know TGA’s policies regarding them.

Do know who your Junior Volunteers are?

A junior volunteer is any child volunteer in 1st-4th grade that must be serving under the direct supervision of one of their parents.

Do you know what their role is?

Junior volunteers are a valuable asset to our nurseries when they are coached and directed in the right way.  These youngsters are great at getting down and entertaining the toddlers and older infants.  They are wonderful helpers in passing out supplies, and snacks.  The parent is asked to shepherd their young children in their serving, explaining all of the helpful things they can do.

Do you know what their role is not?

 Junior volunteers should not be…

Serving without a parent serving alongside them

Holding, picking up, or feeding the babies

If anyone observes a junior volunteer doing any of these things, please for the safety of the babies, gently redirect the junior helper.
